GoaAll-rounder
Lalit Yadav is a cricketer from Delhi who combines several useful roles. He bats in the middle order with plenty of power, sends down off-breaks, and is rated highly as a fielder. That kind of all-round package is particularly valued in limited-overs cricket.
His first-class career began in 2017, when Delhi took on Maharashtra. Yadav made 52 in his opening innings at that level, Delhi reached 419, and the side went on to win by an innings and 61 runs. He kept up that form early on, collecting three half-centuries across his first four first-class innings. His maiden first-class hundred arrived in 2022, in a Ranji Trophy fixture against Tamil Nadu.
In the IPL, the Delhi Capitals signed him at the 2020 auction for his base price of INR 20 lakh. Though he had yet to prove himself, the franchise handed him chances and he produced reasonable results. At the 2022 Mega Auction, the Capitals brought him back for INR 65 lakh. That same year he played what stands as his finest IPL innings, against the Mumbai Indians. Delhi were chasing 178 and had slumped to 72 for 5 when Yadav came together with Axar Patel, and the pair guided the team home, with Yadav finishing 48 not out from 38 deliveries.
Yadav has also achieved a rare feat on two separate occasions: striking six sixes in a single over. The first came in the DDCA T20 league at Feroz Shah Kotla. He repeated it in a T20 game for Sporting Club at the Najafgarh Sports complex, where he raced to 130 from just 46 balls, an innings featuring 13 sixes and 9 fours. The opposing team then collapsed for 75 in their reply.
