His introduction to the Ranji Trophy went about as well as a young bowler could hope. In his very first match in the competition he claimed 3 wickets in the opening innings, then followed up with 6 more when the opposition batted a second time. That return announced him as a bowler capable of handling the step up to the senior domestic stage.
He has continued to collect wickets for his state, with 29 victims across 10 innings for Gujarat. Those efforts earned him a call-up to the India Under-19 squad. Playing for the national youth side in the ACC U-19 Asia Cup, he drew wide attention with a devastating spell against UAE, finishing with figures of 6/24.
